Vice President of The Asia Foundation Meets with President of Mongolia
San Francisco and Ulaanbaatar, February 3, 2006 — The Asia Foundation’s Vice President, Field Operations, Richard H. Fuller, recently visited with the President of Mongolia, N. Enkhbayar in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The Asia Foundation’s Ulaanbaatar office hosted Fuller from January 17–22 to introduce the Foundation’s new Mongolia Country Representative, William Foerderer Infante and meet with local nongovernmental organizations and public sector partners. As part of these activities, Fuller met with President Enkhbayar and discussed Asia Foundation activities, programming, and long-term commitment to Mongolia’s political and economic development in Mongolia.
President Enkhbayar’s long history with the Asia Foundation dates back to the 1990’s, and he thanked the Foundation, for hosting him in San Francisco in September, 2005. The Foundation has maintained a resident office in Mongolia since 1993, and has focused on supporting democratic and market-oriented reforms. The Asia Foundation was the first international organization to support Mongolia’s transition to democracy and a market economy.
