Survey Gauges Perceptions of Community Policing in Timor-Leste

September 21, 2010 — An article in Currents magazine focuses on the changing community policing environment in Timor-Leste, a developing country emerging from an era of violent conflict.  At the request of the Timor-Leste Government, the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste was established in 2006 to assist the country during a tumultuous time. The Asia Foundation conducted a survey with the local community, local council members and traditional community elders to gauge community perceptions of community policing.
