Fieldwork for the 2010 Afghan survey, the sixth conducted by The Asia Foundation’s office in Kabul, was conducted from June 18 through July 5, 2010, prior to the Parliamentary elections in September. In-person interviews were conducted with a multi-stage random sample of Afghan citizens 18 years of age and older, both women and men, from different social, economic, and ethnic communities in rural and urban areas. Together, the six Asia Foundation surveys help assess the mood and direction of the country, and inform the Afghanistan policy debate and donors by providing critical information assessing how Afghans view developments in their own country.

The 2010 Survey of the Afghan People was funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, and designed, directed, and edited by The Asia Foundation, with all interviews completed in person by 634 Afghan men and women employed by the Afghan Center for Socio-Economic and Opinion Research (ACSOR) in Kabul.  Download the survey.
