Book Launch: “Innovations in Strengthening Local Economic Governance in Asia”

Major conflicts and protests continue to grip countries across the world. More than ever, economic liberalization and good governance are crucial for sustainable economic growth and political progress.

The Asia Foundation is pleased to launch a seminal new book on economic reform and development. “Innovations in Strengthening Local Economic Governance in Asia” provides cutting-edge lessons and on-the-ground insights on Asia from our program staff. Based on the Foundation’s experience over the past decade, this book is a resource for policymakers and development professionals.

Since its founding in 1954, The Asia Foundation has engaged community leaders and civil society in effective economic governance. The Foundation is recognized internationally for its innovative, daring work on economic governance and a political economy approach to reform, including work in strengthening local economic governance, private sector development, anticorruption, regulatory reform, trade liberalization, and promotion of private investment.
