The Asia Foundation Hosts “America’s Political Divide: Consequences for U.S.-Asia Policy” Featuring Dr. Thomas E. Mann and Dr. Norman J. Ornstein in Washington, D.C.
Washington, DC, March 13, 2013 — On Monday, March 11, The Asia Foundation hosted the 28th Ellsworth Bunker Asian Ambassadors Series dinner at the Embassy of Malaysia in Washington, DC. Guest speakers and co-authors of the book It’s Even Worse Than It Looks: How the American Constitutional System Collided With the New Politics of Extremism, Dr. Thomas E. Mann and Dr. Norman J. Ornstein spoke on the topic of “America’s Political Divide: Consequences for U.S.-Asia Policy.” Asia Foundation president David D. Arnold participated in the event where 14 embassies were represented.
Dr. Thomas E. Mann is W. Averell Harriman Chair and senior fellow in governance studies at the Brookings Institution. Dr. Norman J. Ornstein is a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The Asia Foundation hosted the featured speakers as part of its Ellsworth Bunker Asian Ambassadors Series, a program that brings together Ambassadors from Asia with US government, business, policy, and media leaders for a discussion on important issues facing the Asia-Pacific region.
