Young Lotus Circle Hosts Paint Nite to Benefit Asia Foundation’s Women’s Empowerment Program
New York, August 21, 2013 — On July 31 in New York City, The Young Lotus Circle hosted a creative and informative “Paint Nite” event for 35 young professionals to benefit the efforts of The Asia Foundation’s Women’s Empowerment Program and Lotus Circle. Event co-hosts Lin Jamison, Deshi Singh, and Tania Das successfully led The Young Lotus Circle in painting, mingling, and raising support for The Asia Foundation among a bright group of young professionals and future leaders.
“As Asian women who have grown up in the US, we felt the impact of empowerment through education and social opportunities in our own lives,” said Mrs. Jamison. “This is our chance to bring that empowerment to women and girls in Asia.”
Through social events, discussions and fundraisers, The Young Lotus Circle has elevated the awareness of critical issues in Asia among the next generation of leaders.
“The work of The Asia Foundation and The Lotus Circle resonates strongly with our peer group, particularly those who have traveled to Asia and witnessed the challenges first-hand,” explained Mrs. Singh.
The Young Lotus Circle is a diverse group of committed young professionals working together, and alongside The Asia Foundation’s Lotus Circle, to empower women and girls across Asia. Through social events, discussions, and fundraisers, The Young Lotus Circle aims to improve the social, economic, and political opportunities of women and girls to strengthen societies in developing Asia.
“By hosting informative, fun and creative fundraising events, we hope to spread our message and make a lasting community impact,” shared Ms. Das.
