A new spirit of advocacy to elevate women’s political voice—as voters, candidates, and leaders—is being felt worldwide, and especially so across Asia. With a number of elections taking place in 2017 in the region, women’s leadership and active engagement in public and political life is critical to shaping Asia’s future.

The Asia Foundation and Global Fund for Women have a track record of supporting women’s groups to ensure strong representation of female candidates for political office as well as women’s safety and security in voting. Beyond formal political participation is the vital role grassroots organizations play in advocating for policy and legal reform, as well as wider commitment to shifting power and resources to women in order to achieve gender equality, and engaging men as allies.

Please join us for an interactive session with panelists who will share insights and priorities to advance women’s political participation and gender equality across Asia in the time ahead.
