Elizabeth Grant is The Asia Foundation's senior program officer for Afghanistan. Based in San Francisco and housed in Field Operations, she provides dedicated backstopping, oversight, and facilitative support to the Foundation's growing operations, programs, and staff in Afghanistan. Elizabeth has worked with the Foundation since October 2009, and prior to her appointment as senior program officer, was the interim manager for the Foundation's Afghanistan Education Program where she oversaw, in coordination with the Deputy Country Representative, the day-to-day, strategic, programmatic, and budget management of the Foundation's education portfolio. Elizabeth has also held other positions within the Foundation, first as a junior associate under the Programs Unit in San Francisco and then later as a management support officer in the Kabul-based office where she helped to facilitate the development of the Office of the Country Representative and establishment of the Program Support Unit and Afghanistan Associates program, each of which contributed to the improvement of technical and financial outputs of the overall office. Prior to her assignments with the Foundation, Elizabeth served with a number of international development organizations including the Women's Refugee Commission, International Medical Corps, Public World, and the Louis Berger Group, Inc. Her technical proficiencies include conflict and post-conflict education initiatives, employment generation best practices, displaced youth livelihood creation, gender mainstreaming, civil society development, and international development planning.

Education: MA in Urban Planning for Regional and International Development of Newly Developing Economies from UCLA; BA in American Studies from Tufts University
