Ms. Satriyo is the director for Gender and Women's Participation at The Asia Foundation's office in Jakarta. A development professional, her areas of expertise include gender and women's political participation, decentralization and local governance, and legislative development.
Ms. Satriyo joined the Foundation in 1998 as a program officer and managed the Foundation's women's political participation and legislative development programs, working particularly on gender budget advocacy initiatives for local parliament, women's human rights at the local level, and anti-violence against women. She also initiated the Foundation's inter-ethnic and inter-faith cooperation programs in Indonesia, working particularly in the area of promoting inter-faith dialogues across the country, drafting anti-racial discrimination, and the use of media as an effective means of transmitting messages on inter-group cooperation.
In her current position, Ms. Satriyo oversees program development and implementation of the gender and women's participation program. The program promotes participation of women stakeholders in local decision-making processes, mainstreaming gender equality in civil society, and combating trafficking in women and children and violence against women. Ms. Satriyo also manages the Foundation's local governance program in Indonesia, promoting systematic monitoring of the regional autonomy process through the Indonesia Rapid Decentralization Appraisal (IRDA) program.
