Mr. Syed A. Al-Muti currently holds the position of Associate Director of the Foundation's Economic Development program. Prior to joining this position Mr Al-Muti has served as director of economic programs in our Bangladesh office since 2006, in which capacity he has served as team leader of two separate economic governance projects supported by DFID and the World Bank Group (International Finance Corporation - IFC). 

He has substantial experience in implementing key Economic Development projects, including an Economic Governance Index, sub-national public-private dialogues, and women's entrepreneurship projects. Al-Muti also currently leads the "development entrepreneurship for business policy reform" program in Bangladesh, supported by the Asia Foundation-Australian Aid partnership. In the recent years, in addition to his role in Bangladesh, Al-Muti has made valuable contribution in the design and implementation of regional economic projects, including support to the South Asia regional trade integration project.

Mr. Al-Muti has experience in diverse areas of Development with strong project design and management skills. Al-Muti brings more than 25 years of relevant experience with USAID, Australian Aid, and The Asia Foundation, with his experience spanning multiple countries. Prior to joining the Foundation, Al-Muti worked with Australian Aid/Canberra as a Senior Policy Officer, and with USAID/Bangladesh as Project Manager for a policy reform and capacity building project.

Education: Mr Al-Muti holds a Master in Social Welfare Administration and Planning from the University of Queensland, Australia, a Master in Commerce from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh, and an M.B.A. in Finance from The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
