To Kim Lien joined The Asia Foundation in Vietnam in June 2000 and currently works as program manager. In this capacity, she manages the women and anti-trafficking programs, including a comprehensive set of activities on counseling and legal aid for victims of trafficking, women's economic empowerment, and capacity building of relevant national and provincial agencies and anti-trafficking organizations. In addition, she assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of other programs related to labor rights, public participation, and local budget transparency.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Ms. Lien worked for GFA consulting group, where she focused on rural development projects within the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Prior to that, she worked for Vietnam – Sweden Cooperation Program for Rural Development and the Committee for Mountainous and Minority Areas. She has extensive field experience in rural development, participatory rural assessment, rural financial services, community development, and women and community health issues in Vietnam. During these years, she became a professional planning facilitator using a logical framework analysis approach to help design national, regional, and sectoral programs related to rural development, agriculture, forestry, biodiversity, education, and public health in Vietnam. In addition, Lien has worked on educational issues at the secondary level, with a particular focus on improving the teaching of general economic principles and introducing household economics and community development planning into the curriculum of vocational schools in the mountainous and rural areas in northern Vietnam.
Education: B.A. in economics from National Economics University; B.A. in foreign languages from University of Foreign Studies, Hanoi National University.
