Senior Program Specialist, Governance for Inclusive Growth, Vietnam

Le Thu Hien is currently the senior program specialist for The Asia Foundation in Vietnam overseeing the Foundation’s Governance for Inclusive Growth portfolio. Hien’s areas of technical expertise include good governance, economic development and private sector engagement, systems development and evidence-based policy research, public administrative reforms, and decentralization of public service delivery, trade, and export policies.

Hien has over 20 years of experience in managing multi-stakeholder programs engaging with state and non-state actors, managing nationwide business satisfaction surveys of administrative procedures in economic governance and customs/cross-border trade, leading various evidence-based policy advocacy programs for The Asia Foundation in the implementation of USAID, DRL, DFAT, UK FCO and other donors in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Prior to joining The Asia Foundation in 2007, Hien worked as the national program officer for the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) where she managed Sida’s programs support to Vietnam in the fields of legal education, legal aid, and parliamentary development and judicial reforms.

Education: Hien holds a diploma in Political Science from the National University of Singapore and a master’s degree in Social Science from Kazan State University in Russia.
