Novi Anggriani is a policy development analyst with over 11 years of increasing responsibilities in the area of policy, gender and local governance, regulatory reform, poverty and employment issues, monitoring and evaluation with strong analytical and qualitative research skills.
Ms. Anggriani joined the Foundation in early 2011 as a program officer and until now has managed the Foundation's gender and local governance program, working particularly on gender budgeting as well as women's SMEs program. The program promotes participation and raising awareness of women stakeholders of their right in local decision-making processes, mainstreaming gender equality in civil society, local government as well as central government. Working closely with the key national stakeholders of planning and budgeting in Indonesia, Ms. Anggriani has been successful in advocating the introduction of specific tools and mechanisms for strengthening gender-responsive planning and budgeting policies in Indonesia.
Prior to joining The Asia Foundation, Ms. Anggriani worked at a national NGO as a program development manager focus on local governance and decentralization issues, overseeing components of capacity building for local government, monitoring and evaluation as well as managing research activities in the area poverty, promoting local investment climate and local regulatory review. From 2003-2006, Ms. Anggriani worked for various international organizations and engaged in numerous development projects. She took part in urban poverty, health financing and rural investment climate assessment with the World Bank, as well as USAID's investment and trade project where she was assigned to work with key national stakeholders at national development planning agency to work on employment policy reform. In the beginning of her career, Ms. Anggriani worked with a private sector company, Booz Allen Hamilton Indonesia. She was the freelance writer for a local daily newspaper when she was at university.
Education: Master of Arts in Development Studies from International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), The Netherlands, and an Engineer (Sarjana Teknik) in Regional and City Planning from Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB).
