Facebook Fans Select Winner of 2010 Photography Contest
The Asia Foundation asked our readers and Facebook fans to submit their photos that exemplify change – large or small – in Asia. Out of 510 submissions over the past month, we narrowed the field to six and then turned it over to our Facebook fans to vote for their favorite image. On Monday, our fans selected the photo below by Tokyo-resident El-Branden Brazil, taken during an Obon festival in the entertainment district of Kabuki-cho in Shinjuku, Tokyo, in October 2007. During Obon, many Japanese participate in large displays of traditional dancing to celebrate their ancestors. View a slideshow on Flickr of the top six photos. Congratulations to El-Branden, whose photo will be featured on The Asia Foundation’s website, and to the finalists. Thanks to all for your submissions and votes!
