This week, The Asia Foundation and the U.S. Embassy/Kabul supported a distinguished delegation of 11 Afghans to Washington, D.C., and the San Francisco Bay Area. From Ghazni, the delegation included Ghazni’s governor and mayor, journalists, and a female member of parliament. Ghazhi has been selected Afghanistan’s “Capital of Islamic Culture” for 2013. Situated in eastern Afghanistan, along the strategic route that links Kabul and Khandar, Ghazni plays a key role in the historical, economic, agricultural, and political realms of contemporary Afghanistan.
