On June 3, The Asia Foundation will release a major new study on subnational conflict, now the most deadly, widespread, and enduring form of violent conflict in Asia. This comprehensive report looks at the effect subnational conflict has had on the region as well as what impact foreign aid has made – or not – on this issue. Thomas Parks, report author and the Foundation’s regional director for conflict and governance, will be a panelist alongside other experts on June 17 in San Francisco to talk about subnational conflict and foreign aid.

Last month, Afghan president Hamid Karzai announced a series of reforms aimed at addressing the nation’s corruption concerns. In this new paper, one of a series of analytical occasional papers on The Asia Foundation’s “Survey of the Afghan People,” Yama Torabi, founder and director of Integrity Watch Afghanistan, examines Afghan opinions about corruption, the challenges of institutionalized corruption, lessons learned, and more.
