Paul Slawson rotated off of the Board of Trustees in 2013. Mr. Slawson joined the Board of Trustees of The Asia Foundation in 1989. He was selected by Sargent Shriver in 1961 to start the Peace Corps in Asia, and eventually to lead the first Peace Corps programs in Bangladesh. He returned to Washington, D.C. after three years to direct the Peace Corps programs in French-speaking Africa. Leaving U.S. government service, he spent three years with Stanford Research International as a management consultant to U.S. and foreign governments on issues of economic development; held senior executive positions with the International Telephone and Telegraph Corporation (ITT); was vice president, international, for the Bendix Corporation; served as president and CEO of the Getz Corporation; was chairman and CEO of the General Atlantic Group, an investment and management company with operations and holdings in Europe, North America, and Asia; and served as president and CEO of the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco.
