On June 3, The Asia Foundation will release a major new study on subnational conflict, now the most deadly, widespread, and enduring form of violent conflict in Asia. This comprehensive report looks at the effect subnational conflict has had on the region as well as what impact foreign aid has made – or not – on this issue. Thomas Parks, report author and the Foundation’s regional director for conflict and governance, will be a panelist alongside other experts on June 17 in San Francisco to talk about subnational conflict and foreign aid.

Despite a major expansion of funding to the world’s most conflict affected areas over the past decade, many of these regions, including in Asia, remain afflicted by the same problems of poor governance, troubled state-society relations, and insecurity.
