The Financial Times Analyzes Indonesia’s Growing Middle Class

November 19, 2010 — An article in The Financial Times focuses on Indonesia’s growing middle class. More than 60 million low-income workers will join Indonesia’s middle class in the next decade. The story also features a sidebar explaining infrastructure hurdles in the country and the need for roads and ports in order to build factories The article cites “Road transport costs, at 34 cents per kilometer, are 50 per cent higher than the rest of Asia,” according to The Asia Foundation’s The Cost of Moving Goods report (April 2008).
