Ambassador Michael Armacost Advocates Exchange Programs with North Korea to end Nuclear Program

December 6, 2010 — An article in The Korea Times focuses on an interview with Ambassador Michael Armacost, a member of The Asia Foundation’s Board of Trustees. Ambassador Armacost discusses how “(People in Washington) hope for regime change in North Korea. But we have no capacity to promote a regime change strategy other than to wait and hope. We have no representation in North Korea. We basically have no means to pursue the strategy.” Instead, Armacost supports exchange programs with North Korea as a strategy to end the North Korean nuclear program.
