January 24, 2011 — An article in Inside Indonesia (Australia) profiles The Asia Foundation’s Lies Marcoes and how she has become one of Indonesia’s foremost experts on Islam and gender issues. Marcoes discusses how Islam can be applied in daily life to empower Indonesian women and enable gender equality. One of her successful projects was creating a gender sensitivities resource book for judges. The Asia Foundation’s program officer Clare Harvey wrote and contributed the article.
