Daniel Stokes left The Asia Foundation in October, 2013.
As director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, Daniel Stokes was responsible for developing and implementing the Foundation’s corporate and foundation fundraising strategies in support of Foundation programs; identifying new donors; stewarding existing donor relationships; working with Programs staff in the development of project proposals and reports to donors; and managing the daily operations of the Corporate and Foundation Relations team.
He has more than ten years of professional experience with international organizations, most recently TransFair USA (now Fair Trade USA), an innovative social enterprise dedicated to fair trade and sustainable development. As senior manager for Resource Development at TransFair, Daniel was responsible for new business development with private sector institutional donors. While at TransFair, he also served as policy and development associate, researching trade policy issues and drafting organizational position statements. Prior to TransFair, he worked in the Health Systems Research division of Ipas, an international health NGO, where he contributed to numerous case studies and reports on access to reproductive healthcare services across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Daniel has traveled widely in Asia, and spent several years working and studying in Thailand, where he worked with organizations including Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Mekong Institute, an intergovernmental organization offering state employees from the six nations of the Greater Mekong Subregion training and research with a focus on regional cooperation and transnational development issues.
