Henry M. Wriston, founding member of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees (1954-1963), was a notable scholar and University leader. During his career, Mr. Wriston served as a professor of history at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut; President of Lawrence College in Appleton, Wisconsin; President of Brown University; and Director and President of the Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Wriston is a graduate of Wesleyan University (B.A. 1911, M.A. 1912). His doctoral dissertation, “Executive Agents in American Foreign Relations” (Harvard University, 1922) became a standard text in the U.S. Department of State.
