Senior Director, Field Representation and Operations

Nicole (Nikki) Sayres is The Asia Foundation’s Senior Director for Field Representation and Operations.

She was formerly the Foundation’s deputy country representative in Cambodia. Before this appointment, Ms. Sayres served as assistant director in the Foundation’s office in Washington, D.C.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Ms. Sayres worked for Community and Family Services International in the Philippines, and as a presidential management fellow at the U.S. Congressional Research Service (CRS), USAID, and the U.S. Department of Labor. She has also interned with the State Department, consulted for the ILO and several NGOs, and served as a language teacher in Japan for three years.

While serving with the U.S. government, Ms. Sayres oversaw a number of labor projects in Cambodia, contributed to a USAID assessment on basic education in Cambodia, and wrote an overview report on U.S.-Cambodia relations for the U.S. Congress. In addition to several reports prepared for Congress, her work has been published by UNESCO and the ILO.

Education: B.S. in industrial and labor relations, Cornell University; M.A. in international affairs, focusing on conflict resolution and international development, Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University. Ms. Sayres completed her M.A. thesis on the Cambodian peace process.
