Tim Kochis joined The Asia Foundation’s board of trustees in 2013 and became chair of the board in 2022. Kochis is the CEO of Kochis Global and the former CEO and chairman of Aspiriant. Kochis has more than 40 years of experience in personal financial and investment planning. He has been active throughout his career in setting standards for the profession, having served as president of The CFP Board of Standards and as chair of the Financial Planning Standards Board and as a trustee of the Charles Schwab Investment Management Mutual Funds and ETF’s Board.

Kochis has been included in Worth magazine’s list of the country’s Best Financial Advisors each year since the list was first published in 1994 and is ranked number one in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Business Times. He earned his master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Chicago, his law degree from the University of Michigan, and his undergraduate degree from Marquette University. Kochis served in the US Army, which included a tour of duty in Vietnam, where he received a Purple Heart for wounds received in action. Kochis’ other civic engagements include: chair of the Investment Committee of the Asian Art Museum, the board of The 1990 Institute and on the board of trustees for the University of San Francisco.
