The Asia Foundation Hosts Daw Aung San Suu Kyi

On Sept. 28, 2012, The Asia Foundation hosted Nobel Laureate Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Member of Parliament,  Myanmar. At her first Bay Area public address, Daw Suu Kyi spoke to an audience of political, civic, and business leaders following a private meeting with David D. Arnold, president of The Asia Foundation, and the organization’s trustees. The Foundation first opened an office in Myanmar in 1954, and since 2007 has donated more than 80,000 books to organizations in Myanmar. The Foundation is undertaking an expanded program of development assistance to Myanmar.
