Civic Education in Afghanistan

Kabul, May 7, 2007 — The Asia Foundation, partnering with the Afghan Civil Society Forum (ACSF) continues to work to strengthen public access to civic education in Afghanistan. ACSF is working to establish a multi-lingual library which will function as an archive and reference for civic education literature and training materials. ACSF will also develop an online database for educational organizations and institutions, organize civil society coordination meetings, facilitate visits to organizations outside of Kabul, initiate civic education outreach for schools, and organize monthly civic education workshops on democracy topics. The Foundation also supports media development by working with the Afghan National Participation Association (ANPA) to produce a series of 60 radio dramas, followed by an interactive dialogue in Pashto and Dari. These dramas will air on 32 independent and 16 government radio stations in almost all provinces of Afghanistan.
