Asia Foundation’s Véronique Salze-Lozac’h Presents at 2014 International Conference on Globalization, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development in Washington, DC

Washington, DC, January 24, 2014 — On January 23 in Washington, DC, Asia Foundation’s chief economist and director of Economic Development Véronique Salze-Lozac’h presented at the 2014 International Conference on Globalization, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development. Ms. Salze-Lozac’h spoke on the topic “Entrepreneurship and the Role of the Private Sector in Fostering Economic Growth in Asia- Challenges of Women Entrepreneurs in Malaysia-Philippines-Thailand” and participated in a panel discussion on “Entrepreneurship in Asian Emerging Economies.”

“Throughout Asia, women have been taking a growing role in the economy, including as entrepreneurs. Addressing barriers to women in business and unleashing their tremendous economic potential makes a lot of business sense,” said Ms. Salze-Lozac’h.

The conference, which focused on “Entrepreneurship and Path Forward Economic Development,” brought together business leaders, and experts who are involved in public discussion and debate about market strategies, capital investments, industrial manufacturing, engineering management, logistics, international trade, and development issues. Audience participants included policymakers, diplomats, investors, consultants, researchers, bank executives, attorneys, and other practitioners representing key industries, corporations, and organizations across the United States, Canada, Australia, and countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.
