Asia Foundation’s Deputy Country Representative for the Philippines Ky Johnson Presents at ASEAN Corporate Sustainability Summit 2014
Manila, March 21, 2014 — On March 20, The Asia Foundation’s Deputy Country Representative for the Philippines & Pacific Island Nations, Ky Johnson, presented at the ASEAN Corporate Sustainability Summit 2014 in Manila. The conference brought together C-level executives, business leaders, sustainability practitioners, civil society partners, regional regulators, public sector leaders, and aid agencies to discuss successful best practices for contributing to sustainable and inclusive ASEAN growth.
As part of the summit’s Governance & Strategy stream’s Special Session for NGO Collaboration, Johnson addressed strategy and methods for responsible decision-making and competitiveness and presented on “Relevant Research: Tools for Decision-Making and Improved Effectiveness.” Johnson explained how The Asia Foundation uses analytical tools to understand complex problems, design new programs, measure results, influence policy makers, and win new projects. He provided real-life examples from Afghanistan, Thailand, and the Philippines that highlight the Foundation’s success in applying contextually relevant research tools to its work.
“This contextually appropriate, ‘relevant research’ has had an impact on individual projects and activities but also a larger impact on our organization,” Johnson said. “It has raised our profile and reputation, informed and improved our programs, and increased our ‘business’.”
