On November 18, The Asia Foundation is releasing its annual “Afghanistan in 2014: A Survey of the Afghan People,” the broadest, longest-running nationwide survey of Afghan opinion. The 2014 findings are a unique lens into Afghan public opinion and come at a crucial time during the current period of transition and change.

With the conclusion of the first democratic transition of power in the country’s history and the continuing drawdown of foreign troops, what do the people of Afghanistan think are the most critical issues facing the country? The survey includes results of face-to-face interviews with 9,271 Afghans across all 34 provinces conducted after the June presidential run-off election. Since 2004, The Foundation’s surveys have polled more than 65,000 Afghans.

The findings will be presented at events in Kabul and in Washington, DC. The Washington, DC event, at the United States Institute of Peace, will be livestreamed on November 18, 9:30am EST here.

Media interviews: The Washington, DC and Kabul events are on-the-record. Asia Foundation experts are available for comment on the survey or broader developments in Afghanistan:

Available in Kabul:

Abdullah Ahmadzai, Country Representative in Afghanistan
