Cambodia VXW Awards

The Asia Foundation on August 24 announced the first-ever mobile applications to combat violence against women (VXW) in Cambodia. The inspiration of three young women activists from Cambodia’s VXW Awards, and built by major app developer Golden Gekko, the three apps for Android and iPhone offer features including legal information, peer support, anonymous reporting, and personal network alerts. A quarter of women have been victims of intimate partner violence in Cambodia, where a Foundation report found that 94 percent of the public own cell phones. Read more.
