The Policy Pulse Initiative (PPI) was initiated by the Foundation in 2015 to improve the public’s understanding of important policy reforms in Cambodia through research and accessible information. Through 2017, the Foundation worked with 21 government ministries to verify publicly available policy information and share it with the public.

Later in 2019, the PPI website was redesigned and relaunched with the support from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade through the Ponlok Chomnes: Data and Dialogue for Development in Cambodia Program. The Ponlok Chomnes is a four-year initiative that aims to strengthen the capacity of knowledge sector institutions to undertake quality research that informs public policy analysis and dialogue in Cambodia.

Last month’s PPI focal points meeting focused on reconnecting with government stakeholders, providing updates on the initiative, discussing how PPI can contribute to improved public awareness of the government’s policies and reforms, and providing an opportunity for the focal persons to engage and collaborate. Some of the key outcomes of the discussion included the need to verify and share officially sourced data; design research around common themes critical to Cambodia; the importance of collaboration with ministerial focal points on research, organizing dialogues, etc. to share information on updated laws, regulations, and policies; and going beyond identification of problems to produce more solution-focused research.
