In.CoDe: Indonesia’s Competition for Civic Tech Apps
Program Year: 2017
To increase civic engagement in strengthening government effectiveness in Indonesia, The Asia Foundation held a competition for civic tech apps through the “Innovation and Collaboration for Development” (In.CoDe) program. The competition kicked off by inviting civil society organizations, start-ups, local governments, and universities to propose tech solutions to key development challenges affecting public services, environmental management, rural community empowerment, and open government.
Of nearly 150 submissions received, the Foundation selected six promising prototypes to be developed further and later matched with private sector partners to jointly address these challenges. Of these, two have received support from a state-owned company and a local government to develop their apps further. Enjoy a Q & A with the In.CoDe team.
