The Foundation Hosts “Ponlok Chomnes National Policy Forum: Cambodia’s Covid-19 Recovery Pathways”

As Cambodia transitions into the Covid-19 recovery phase, The Asia Foundation’s “Ponlok Chomnes: Data and Dialogue for Development in Cambodia” program, in collaboration with its core partners and emerging research partners, held the first Ponlok Chomnes National Policy Forum on Cambodia’s Covid-19 Recovery Pathways.
This Forum is one of the flagship activities of the Ponlok Chomnes program, which aims to strengthen the capacity of knowledge sector institutions to undertake quality research that informs public policy analysis and dialogue in Cambodia. The program (2021-2023) amounted to 5.8 million AUD is supported by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and implemented by The Asia Foundation.
The two-day Forum, held from November 23-24, 2021, in Phnom Penh, convened over 100 participants, including government representatives, researchers, civil society, policymakers, policy experts, and members of academia. Participants presented and discussed their research findings and case studies on various topics ranging from the adoption of technology, urban and economic development, social inclusion, and foreign policy, all of which contribute to Cambodia’s Covid-19 recovery plan.
Prior to hosting the National Policy Forum, the Ponlok Chomnes program has supported various established institutions and think tanks, and emerging research institutions to conduct action research in response to the issues faced by Cambodia during the Covid-19 pandemic.
