Asia Foundation Collaborates to Host United States–Pakistan Innovation Expo

On March 18 and 19, the United States Embassy in Islamabad, in collaboration with The Asia Foundation and National Incubation Centre Islamabad, successfully organized the United States–Pakistan Innovation Expo at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts. The event aimed to celebrate the United States contribution to Pakistan’s entrepreneurship ecosystem through different U.S. Government-funded programs over the years. The event successfully convened like-minded people to celebrate technological innovation and promote cross-border partnerships between the United States and Pakistan.

U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome and Asim S. Husain, chief executive officer of the National Technology Fund, attended the event. The dignitaries expressed admiration for the expo as a great platform to showcase the achievements of United States-funded start-ups and encourage further investment opportunities for United States-Pakistan partnerships in the start-up ecosystem.

The expo featured keynote speeches from Chris Carr, professor of Business Law and Public Policy at California Polytechnic’s Orfalea College of Business, and Ahmed Hassan, legal counsel at White Summers Caffee & James, LLP. The panel discussions from leading industry experts, investors, and founders covered start-up survival in an age of crisis, opportunities beyond borders, and upcoming U.S. Embassy-funded entrepreneurship programs.

Participants heard from a variety of innovative start-ups, local business owners, and service providers offering a range of innovative tech products and services. The expo also enabled networking opportunities for the participants to connect with other entrepreneurs, potential customers, and service providers. The interactive sessions provided an opportunity for entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas to mentors and receive constructive feedback.
