Women in Asia face significant barriers in accessing economic opportunities, as entrepreneurs and within the workforce. Constraints include limited access to markets, finance, networks, and information; discriminatory laws and regulations; an unfriendly work environment for women; and unpaid care responsibilities. The private sector is playing an increasingly important role addressing constraints to women’s economic opportunities, as a corporate social responsibility priority and because it makes smart business sense. The panel will highlight innovative public-private partnerships which are improving economic opportunities for women in Vietnam, Mongolia, Bangladesh, and across Asia, and in turn building stronger communities and markets.

The Asia Foundation and the Embassy of Australia present a panel of experts:
Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, Senior Program Officer, Social Development and Gender, The Asia Foundation Vietnam
Amarzaya Naran, Project Manager, Women’s Business Center and Incubator, The Asia Foundation Mongolia
Luna Shamsuddoha, Founder and President, Bangladesh Women in Technology; and Chairman, Dohatec New Media

Moderator
Jane Sloane, Director, Women’s Empowerment Program, The Asia Foundation
