The Asia Foundation is a nonprofit international development organization committed to improving lives and expanding opportunities across Asia and the Pacific. Informed by 70 years of experience and deep local knowledge, our work is focused on governance, climate action, gender equality, education and leadership, inclusive growth, and international cooperation. We work in more than 20 countries through our 17 permanent country offices and programs across Asia and the Pacific, supported by a headquarters in San Francisco and an office in Washington, DC. Our funding comes from a diverse array of bilateral and multilateral development agencies, foundations, corporations, and individuals.

The Foundation is seeking a dynamic and experienced chief communications officer (CCO) to lead the transformation of our communication strategies and elevate and advance the Foundation’s outreach, institutional profile, and articulation of program impact. To this end, the CCO will play a pivotal role in reimagining and revitalizing our institutional and program communication across multiple platforms, ensuring a cohesive and compelling narrative that resonates with the Foundation’s diverse audiences. In addition to overseeing the Foundation’s internal and external communications, the CCO will play a crucial role in elevating the visibility of the Foundation’s program initiatives at the country and regional levels. This includes driving the development of multimedia content, disseminating reports, publications, and other thought leadership products, and supporting fundraising campaigns.

Reporting to the president, the CCO will lead a dynamic team of communications professionals, fostering an environment of innovation and collaboration within and between the team and the multiple units it engages with. This role requires a visionary and strategic-minded leader who can leverage the power of storytelling and digital platforms to amplify the Foundation’s messaging and impact and reach new audiences.
