Consultant, National Tourism Short Film Festival Organizer, Timor-Leste

Location: Timor-Leste
Program area: Inclusive Economic Growth
Deadline: December 14, 2022

The Asia Foundation is a nonprofit international development organization committed to improving lives across a dynamic and developing Asia-Pacific. Informed by six decades of experience and deep local expertise, our work across the region is focused on good governance, women’s empowerment and gender equality, inclusive economic growth, environment, and climate action, and regional and international relations

The Asia Foundation Timor-Leste office seeks an individual or a company to collaborate with the tourism association in organizing a national short film festival to promote Timor-Leste tourism regions of Aileu and Maubisse in key source markets where early adopter travelers are located. The festival will include organizing a national short film competition (no more than 15 minutes, including all credits) from local/international filmmakers which highlight the niche tourism products of Aileu and Maubisse with the official country brand “Explore the Undiscovered” at the end.

Developing Timor-Leste’s tourism sector is crucial for diversifying the nation’s oil-dependent economy. While Timor-Leste has much to offer visitors, building a tourism sector in Asia’s newest nation is not without its challenges, with barriers being overcome through concerted action and partnerships between government, private sector, and civil society stakeholders.
