Seeking Advisors in Universal Design for Learning

The Asia Foundation’s Let’s Read team is seeking expressions of interest from advisors with expertise in using Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles for children with disabilities in Low-to-Middle Income Countries (LMIC) for a proposal in progress. Responses are preferred before July 17, 2020.
The UDL consultant would assist the Let’s Read HQ and country office teams and disabled people organizations (DPO) in one or more countries in Asia to use UDL principles to design and implement plans to help children with disabilities gain and maintain foundational literacy and numeracy skills at grade level.
Using a student-centered, environmentally useful, and tasks-focused tool systems (SETT) framework, the consultant would assist local DPOs to develop frameworks and collaborate with education departments and schools to:
- Perform a gap analysis to determine current practices, habits, and potential to promote the implementation of UDL in classrooms in the countries selected, including teacher capacity, family and community support, student access to accessible content, devices and technologies, and infrastructure challenges.
- Develop a school wide approach to student support, from screening to multi-tiered support
- Design and assist in the delivery of teacher professional development
- Design and assist in the delivery of family and community engagement plans
