Empowering Migrant Women as Entrepreneurs in China

Since 2013, The Asia Foundation has been supporting migrant women with entrepreneurial aspirations to start and develop their own small businesses in Shanghai. The program provides migrant women entrepreneurs with a range of critical assistance, such as business skills training, consultation on business plans, individual mentorship and referral to lending facilities. Thus far, the program has benefited 181 migrant women in Shanghai. With assistance from the program, many of them have become or are becoming business owners. This film features three women whose stories represent those of many migrants striving for better lives for themselves and their families.
