National Institute for Healthcare Management Foundation Awards 2019 Development Fellow

The National Institute For Healthcare Management Foundation awards 2019 Asia Foundation Development Fellow Sohara Mehroze Shachi their Digital Media Award for her work on the series “The Weight of Numbers: Air Pollution and PM2.5.”

Larry Price, Gayathri Vaidyanathan, Talia Bronshtein, Sohara Mehroze Shachi, Anna Cunningham, Brendan Borrell, “The Weight of Numbers: Air Pollution and PM2.5,” Undark Magazine, Part 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

This series examined the impact of particulate air pollution on the lives of everyday people and uncovered government action (or lack thereof) to address the problem, which kills millions of people each year. The judges were blown away by the “spectacular” use of digital media and its success in making data accessible to the public in a way that has driven dialogue around air pollution as a health issue in the United States and beyond.
