New Survey Sheds Light on Tourism in Timor-Leste
Despite ongoing economic improvements in Timor-Leste, the majority of the economy is still fueled by petroleum reserves. Experts warn that the country desperately needs to diversify its economy to ensure sustainability. While the country’s Strategic Development Plan highlights the tourism industry as essential to future development, there exists a dearth in data relating to traveler experiences to help inform tourism policy and planning going forward. In this new survey, The Asia Foundation and the Ministry of Tourism gathered the perceptions of over 700 travelers to Timor-Leste to help inform the country’s tourism policy. Download here.
