Cathryn Buis

Country Manager, Pacific Islands

Cathryn has worked in development since 2008, when she joined the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat in Suva.  She has a background as a program manager with AusAID and DFAT governance programs and was most recently with the United Nations in Papua New Guinea.  She brings with her 15 years of experience in programming and building relationships with communities, civil society, and government.

As a recipient of a Chevening Scholarship, she gained a master’s degree in Political Economy of Development from the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London.  Cathryn is from Manus Island in Papua New Guinea, grew up in rainy Lae, and now lives in dry Port Moresby.
