Dr. Kyungjin Song is The Asia Foundation’s country representative in South Korea. She has over twenty-five years of experience in the public and private sectors, international affairs, and media. She is our first female and first Korean country representative for The Asia Foundation in South Korea.
Prior to joining The Asia Foundation, Kyungjin Song served the Government of the Republic of Korea in various capacities. She worked from 2008 to 2009 as a special assistant to the Special Economic Adviser to the President in the Office of the President. She served from 2009 to 2011, as chief secretary and special adviser to the chairman of the Presidential Committee for G20 Seoul Summit in the Office of the President. She oversaw the entire production of the official White Paper of the 2010 G20 Seoul Summit. For these endeavors, she was honored with the Republic of Korea Government’s Order of Civil Service Merit.
From 2004 to 2008, Kyungjin Song worked in the Ministry of Finance and Economy as a foreign press spokesperson. She also served, from 2011 to 2012, as special adviser to the Chairman & CEO of the Korea International Trade Association.
Kyungjin Song currently serves on the Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with a special focus on economic diplomacy. She is also Korea’s coordinator for the Korea-India Strategic Dialogue in the Seoul Forum for International Affairs and Vice President of the Association of Korean Economic Studies.
Kyungjin Song has been honored with awards from the JoongAng Media Group and the German Chamber of Commerce, Korea. She has written extensively on economic policy, international relations, gender equality, and youth and gender issues for leading Korean and international newspapers.
