Mochamad Mustafa

Program Director, Democracy and Governance, Indonesia

Mochamad Mustafa has served as program director for Democracy and Governance at The Asia Foundation’s office in Indonesia since 2018. He has more than 15 years of experience in governance and democracy, with a special focus on democracy, local governance, human rights, counter-violence extremism, freedom of religion and beliefs, and digital literacy including countering mis- and disinformation. Mustafa has managed and implemented programs supported by various development institutions in Indonesia, such as DFAT, International Finance Cooperation, World Bank, United States Agency for International Development, British Embassy, Global Affairs Canada, and Google.

Education: Doctoral degree from the School of Anthropology and Development Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science at the University of Adelaide, and master’s degree in International Development from Flinders University in Australia
