Ndeye Ndione

2023-2024 Luce Scholar

Ndeye Ndione is a first-generation college graduate with a bachelor’s in political science. While at Hunter College, Ndeye was a Public Service Scholar and a Kneel Transportation Fellow. Her experiences as a campaign coordinator, an intern at Legal Outreach, State Senator Liz Krueger’s office, and the Brennan Center for Justice reflect her interests in politics, government, and advocacy. For her senior research project, Ndeye studied the relationship between Islam and democracy in her birth country, Senegal. She found a home at Roosevelt House, Hunter College’s Policy School, developing her interest in creative thought and public service. It has fostered her understanding of New York City, its government and communities, and the role that she must play. She hopes to become an attorney, exploring careers from criminal defense to advocating for democratic institutions. Ndeye is currently a New City Urban Fellow, where she continues her public policy and public service work at the Fire Department of New York.
