Rotha Soung is a storyteller, filmmaker, producer, and creative director at Minor Act, a media production organization that works with youths to produce transformative social justice media content. She spearheads the Unexpected Song Project, an episodic series that depicts the works and struggles of young and marginalized artists in Cambodia, working from scripts and interviews through to the editing process. Suong believes in the power of film and storytelling to connect people and tackle social issues. As part of the United Nation’s 16 Days campaign in 2021, she produced and directed My Body, a music video that aims to empower women to raise dialogues on the sensitive topic of gender-based violence. Suong was previously head of production at Pour un Sourire Enfant School of Media, where she introduced a project-based learning program and helped disadvantaged film students get hands-on experience despite the lack of film industry in the country.
