Sukla Dey
Senior Program Manager
Sukla Dey is a senior program manager for The Asia Foundation in Bangladesh and leads the UNESCO-funded project Hooked on Peace, and the Let’s Read program portfolio in Bangladesh. She leads educational content development for children, capacity-building workshops for young writers and illustrators, and maintains partner and donor relations. Sukla has 20 years of experience working with partners like the British Council, Room to Read, BBC Janala, Bangladesh Reading Association, The American Center, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, banks and government officials, and schools across the country and working to expand the visibility, scope, and local funding for Books for Asia in Bangladesh. She has extensive experience in facilitating trainings and workshops and conducting focus group discussions. She organizes high-visibility events, complete with branding, and works with media personnel. She also plays a key role in local fundraising for the Foundation’s Let’s Read Program. She has years of experience working with different stakeholders.
Sukla has served as lead for The Asia Foundation’s pilot project, Access 4 Asia, for two years, where she worked with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. She worked as a project lead for the Strengthening Garments Workers’ project, partnering with BLAST Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST). Where the project aims to create awareness among RMG workers, especially women, about their rights and benefits and to provide legal support to the victims through the partner organization. Sukla also worked as a Technical Advisor for Foundations WEESMS program. She led The Asia Foundations long running program for Books for Asia in Bangladesh.
