More than four-fifths of the total employed population in Bangladesh are engaged in some type of informal employment. This calls for a deeper and more insightful understanding of informality as a critically important aspect of the jobs agenda, and the broader inclusive growth agenda, in the Bangladesh context. Thus, it is important to take an in-depth look at the various dimensions of informality in Bangladesh, from both the labor market and sectoral-enterprise perspectives.
