Environmental Journalist, Bangladesh



Sohara Mehroze is a freelance journalist, covering stories of climate change-induced food insecurity, natural calamities, and migration. As a citizen of one of the most climate vulnerable nations, Sohara focuses her work on climate change. She has been working with the United Nations Development Programme to enhance climate resiliency for vulnerable women, and improve access to climate finance. Sohara founded the Climate Tracker South Asia network, through which she improves environmental consciousness of youth. Sohara is also the outgoing curator of the Global Shapers Community Dhaka Hub, where she is implementing a city greening project that is being replicated in cities around South Asia. She is also the first Bangladeshi to win the Asian Young Environmental Journalist of the Year award. Sohara has a master’s degree in Development Studies from BRAC University, and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Yale University.
